Hi, I’m Siri!
Yes, that's my real name. It means wealth. And yes, Apple copied my name for its app! I am an individual with non-verbal Autism. I think about a lot of things just like regular people, but communication is a challenge due to my condition. My family and I discovered that I can communicate using an alphabet board fairly recently.
Currently, my mom and my communication coaches help me express my thoughts. I will be using this space to put my thoughts out for the world to hear and see. I have a passion for advocating for people with non-verbal Autism. I also want to educate the parents and others about our capabilities.
I started taking classes at Santa Rosa Junior College. My ultimate goal is to become a Neuroscientist. Just a few years ago it would not have been possible. Now I can show everyone what I am capable of. I can't imagine the lives of many people with Autism who do not have access to such ground-breaking tools. They have to remain silent for their whole lives! I know how frustrating it can be because I was once one of them.
